Tarangire National Park takes its name from the river that flows through it, providing a vital water source for a wide variety of wildlife, including giraffes, waterbucks, wildebeests, zebras, and a high concentration of elephants.
The park is also a haven for bird enthusiasts, with over 550 species of birds, including kori bustards, ostriches, and numerous types of weavers, making it a true birdwatcher's paradise. Its rolling hills are dotted with the iconic African baobab trees, and its diverse grasslands add to the park's striking scenery.
Like nearby Lake Manyara, Tarangire is an excellent starting point for a longer safari to the Serengeti, or a perfect destination for a shorter safari adventure, offering abundant wildlife and stunning landscapes.
