Who We Are

About the Company

Sema Africa was created with the central idea of giving back to the local communities. In order to build support and awareness of life in Tanzania and others in Africa, we know that it is a priority to create human connections. Tangentially, tourism is the highest pulling way that visitors come into Tanzania creating the biggest opportunity to share our message while also providing excellent service on your tours through Tanzania. We provide sustainable, ethical compensation for all of our staff to ensure they continue giving back to their communities themselves. Additionally, we give back to local communities directly through providing funds for local projects that will increase income generating activities…

The name "Sema Africa" uses the Swahili word "sema" meaning "say" directly translating to "Say Africa". We promise that after your experiences on an unforgettable tour with Sema Africa you will have a hard time returning to your home without saying Africa.

Our mission statement

Through use of a dedicated, knowledgeable team, at Sema Africa we strive to provide all guests an authentic Tanzanian experience through cultural exchange and view of the natural beauty of our flora and fauna, giving back to the community to continue helping those who have helped us along the way.

About the Founder

The founder of Sema Africa, Tony Aloyce, grew up in a small village close to Manyara National Park. Through hard work and determination, he was able to support himself through community college classes in Arusha where he was able to learn everything there is to know about being a knowledgeable tour guide as well as language skills in English and German. After many years of practicing patience of climbing up the ladder that is the tourism world in Tanzania (starting as a safari chef for over 3 years), building many connections along the way, and honing in on his dreams, Tony was able to start Sema Africa Tours. A safari company he could only dream of working for as a young adult that focuses on providing an amazing safari experience for visitors where they are able to learn about the authentic Tanzanian culture while also giving back to the local communities. Tony has always been a big dreamer and those close to him know that there is nothing holding him back.

Our Philosophy

At Sema Africa Tours, we believe that tourism must be sustainable, ethical, and responsible if it is to play a meaningful role in addressing the environmental and social challenges of our time. Travel is a powerful human desire – people want to explore, discover, and connect – but it should never come at the expense of the places and people that make these experiences possible.

We reject the idea of "fast-fashion tourism," where travelers are rushed from one site to another, crowded together, and left without the chance to truly connect with their surroundings. Instead, we focus on thoughtful, immersive travel that values quality over speed, depth over quantity, and respect over exploitation.

While tourism can sometimes harm cultures, communities, and the natural environment, we are committed to doing things differently. Our goal is to ensure that every journey we design leaves a positive impact – supporting local communities, protecting wildlife, and preserving the beauty of Tanzania and Zanzibar for future generations.
